New Poem: The Question NOT To Ask

The Question NOT To Ask

Start from the top.
Pretend like I don’t know a thing
and see if that helps you explain it.
oh I get it, this is about what you know and what I have yet to learn.
Don’t act as if everything is obvious.
Smugness is not a good substitute for false confidence.
If things are so simple, then what do you need me for?
Approaching things with humility is a good first step.
Trying to find the right question is the second, third and fourth.
But don’t ask ‘why?’
Sometimes never getting to an answer is the only solution.
Is it obvious that there is an eye at the center of the storm?
A place of calm in the middle of terror?
They say it could start to hurt a little less each day
But after a while the pain feels like your closest friend.
One day you’ll wake up, notice the hurting has stopped
and wonder why everything seems so awkward.
I’m beginning to wonder what my prudence has cost me.
