If you have seen the film Avtar, you should remember a scene about halfway through the movie where the hero Jake Sully makes his first “clean kill” on his way to becoming a Na’Vi hunter. After killing the beast, Sully whispers a blessing to the dead animal which immediately reminded me of this this beautiful Kahlil Gibran poem:
When you kill a beast say to him in your heart, “By the same power that slays you, I too am slain; and I too shall be consumed. For the law that delivered you into my hand shall deliver me into a mightier hand. Your blood and my blood is naught but the sap that feeds the tree of heaven.”
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
oh I like that - aw, if we only thought of all life that way...and realized, well realized.... - Loved the movie!!!
