De Stijl: Form, Color and Utopia

I have been a huge fan of the De Stijl movement since the first time I gazed at a Mondrian painting. Similar to Russian Constructivism, I certainly catch glimpses of and feel momentary kinship with these artist’s desire to embody Utopian beauty, spiritual harmony and order in total abstraction and universality by reducing art down to the essentials of form and color.
