Sometimes our pain and suffering can become comfortable to us. Sometimes, if we’ve suffered for a long time, we can’t imagine what it would be like to not suffer. We secretly hold on to our pain, it becomes part of our identity, part of who we are. But somewhere, deep down, we seem to intrinsically know that our natural state is to be at peace. We know we need to give up this pain eventually, and we hear that Jesus has come to help with that. He offers to set us free and to heal us, but we’re still afraid. We know that if we do decide to give up, move on and press forward, we would be accountable to the new life we’ve been offered.
Do we really want this new life?
Have we all been institutionalized?
I’m going to be leading a discussion about this topic at Valley Mosaic this Sunday evening at 5pm. Don’t forget to bring a snack, dish or drink to share at the pot-luck. See you then!
Shalom
