I didn’t watch the first two seasons of LOST. After not being able to stand the perpetual buzz any longer and finally succumbing to relentless coercion from a good friend, I watched the first two seasons in one weekend. My level of captivation since then has been close to fanatical.
As I’m sure all of the LOST fans out there are feeling, I’m both saddened and excited to watch the finale this Sunday. In my opinion LOST is a testament to the truly magnificent power of good storytelling. I am reminded of this quote:
The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in.
—Harold Goddard
I am a firm believer that we make up stories about reality, and these stories shape how we live our lives. Although LOST is pretty awesome, this is why the Jesus story is so important to me–I can’t think of a more perfect story to be shaped by.
